Vicariate Pastoral Council
The Vicariate Pastoral Council is comprised of Vicar Fr. Jerry Brzezinski, representatives from each Parish Council in the Vicariate, and representatives from the Vicariate Pastoral Ministers' Association. The Council seeks to be responsive to the needs of the people of all ages by providing support for the ministry of its parishes, schools, active ministers and ministries in institutions of the Vicariate. This is done by coordinating pastoral planning, enhancing communication, and identifying and utilizing resources which can be shared by as many as possible.

ACTS: A Call To Serve

Developed by the Pontiac Area Vicariate, this program to trains lay ministers for voluntary service. Presentations include a strong foundation in good theology. Including the Who, What and How of Parish Ministry.

The What of Ministry traces our call to serve through both the Old and New Testaments, the signs and symbols of our Catholic heritage and Church documents.

Who is a Minister explores the various qualities of a minister—as a person of presence, listening and prayer. Practical communication skills are presented to enhance one’s ministry.

During the How of Ministry, participants are invited to focus on a particular kind of ministry (Pastoral Care, Worship and Leadership) and presented the tools for successful ministry.

Youth Ministry

The implementation of the PAV Youth Minister and Program Plan began in 2006-7 with the goal of  bringing together the youth ministers of the PAV and unifying them as a team. Youth ministers across six parishes have been meeting regularly to collaborate on programs. This has resulted in successful events – dances, trips to Cedar Point, and service projects – that attract larger numbers than could be done at any single parish. It is also helpful to the youth ministers who each only have to coordinate one major event, rather than several, each year.
